Until next we meet

Hey guys.

The time has finally come to accept that it’s time to step away as a regular co-host of OotiniCast. The reason is obvious to those who’ve listened to the shows over the past year: I no longer have the time to play the game. The birth of my daughter drastically reduced my play time, and soon thereafter ended our raiding group; the addition of my son to our family, along with choosing to do some university study, all on top of my now full-time job, ensured games were no longer something I could do.

It’s also the case that my interests have shifted, as I suffer from Star Wars fatigue (who could have guessed that was even possible), and find I’m more interested in my study than anything to do with gaming.

All of that means that I haven’t properly played SWTOR for a long time now. It has felt more and more awkward being on the show with nothing to really talk about. My recent holiday and being between semesters has given me an opportunity to really ponder the situation, and realise that it’s time for a change.

Be assured that I remain very happy with SWTOR, and the direction it’s taken under Keith’s leadership. He is doing all the right things, though with only-too-clearly limited resources. I wish SWTOR all the best, and hope that it continues to do well in the years to come.

OotiniCast will continue under Chill’s sole leadership. Its timing and format may change, at his discretion.

I’d like to thank all of you who’ve listened over the many years, and continue to listen now. You are why we started OotiniCast, and your interest has kept us going.

I’d also like to thank my co-host, Chill. The show was originally his idea, and I remain immensely grateful that he convinced me to make a go of it. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in podcasting!

Until we meet again, in a galaxy far, far away.

May the Force be with you and/or serve you well.

3. Holofeed

  • Game Update 5.9 was deployed a couple of days late, followed a week later by Game Update 5.9a.
  • Game Update 5.9.1 is scheduled for 22 May, and includes the Nar Shaddaa Night Life event.
  • The drop rate for the new 240 augments has NOT changed.
  • Charles Boyd revealed that Paxton Rall, an NPC found on Dromund Kaas, is part of a promotion destined for later in the year. He’ll be “disappeared” until his time is ripe.
  • Charles Boyd confirmed some fan theories about the Sith ritual used to convert mass death into something Vitiate/Valkorian could use.
  • The EA Q4 2018 earnings conference call said nothing about SWTOR (again), though it still appears as an active “Console/PC” title on a slide.
  • Casey Hudson, recently returned to BioWare and its General Manager, has posted twice (16 April, 10 May), discussing his return, BioWare as a company, and their vision for Anthem.
  • There may be a new Dragon Age game in the works, though it’ll no doubt happen a good while after Anthem is released.
  • Another animated series is coming from Dave Filoni: Star Wars Resistance, which will be anime style, set after the events of The Force Awakens.
  • A rumour states that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in production, scheduled to be in cinemas in December 2020.
  • The range of Star Wars toys grows wider: now there’s a Lego Y-Wing, and a limited edition sail barge that’s four feet long.
