It’s a quiet news week! We do discuss the unexpected temporary shutdown of the official SWTOR forums, and Lead composer Jesse Harlin’s comments on some placeholder KotET music that’s made its way into the wild. In our discussion, Daniel talks us through some preliminary results of his survey of SWTOR players, with some surprising (or perhaps not so surprising) findings.
1. Introduction
If you have a webcam (such as the Logitech C920) that stopped working with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, use this fix to get it going again.
2. Tip of the week
Congratulations to this week’s winner, Aailujj!
Please send your tips to ootinicast@gmail.com by next Tuesday for a chance to win a Taunfawn or M8-3R droid code, courtesy of BioWare, and an OotiniCast-provided Cartel Market pack from the latest shipment.
3. Holofeed
- There was back-end maintenance which required four hours downtime during the scheduled Tuesday morning period.
- Game Update 4.7.1 is coming on Wednesday 7 September. It includes the “Shroud of Memory” bonus chapter where you play as HK-55 (teaser trailer), along with fixes to stop the Ancient Thread from being permanently spawned on Yavin 4, and the UI-only problem in the achievement list for the Depths of Manaan DvL completion.
- The official SWTOR forums were unexpectedly taken offline for 20 hours. Our speculation is that they needed to urgently patch the security vulnerability in their vBulletin forum software. We believe this has nothing to do with BioWare’s other forums from being shut down on Friday 26 August.
- BioWare posted some awesome concept art on its Twitter feed (Zakuulan landscape, The Gravestone):
- Early synthesised version of KotET music has been made available via Reddit. Lead composer Jesse Harlin responded in the thread, confirming that these trackers were placeholders that would be replaced with versions recorded with a live orchestra. He’d earlier tweeted that he was recording the music with Gordy Haab at Ocean Way Nashville recording studios.
4. The Academy
This week Swtorista continues her coverage of guilds, including how to organise social events, planetary conquests, crafting and the Guild Flagship.
5. Force Feedback
Christina (voice actress extraordinaire) has created this background for her desktop using the Prisma app:
6. Sarlacc Digest
