Redna would like to know what is your favourite class in SWTOR, and would like your help in choosing his main for Game Update 3.0.

He obtained the following stylised Darth Vader crafted by a local artist in Las Vegas:

2. Trivia questions

Congratulations to Yajard who got both trivia answers correct! He identified the worst trivia question ever (in episode 28), and even provided the answer, as well as identifying Bruce Boa as the actor who was in a Star Wars movie, Chill’s favourite Vietnam movie, and Chill’s favourite sitcom series of all time.

3. Tip of the week

Congratulations to this week’s winner, Telenroid! Thanks to Mikhael, T’chuk, Bouyass and Troja for entering.

Please send your tips to ootinicast@gmail.com by next Wednesday for a chance to win an M8-R3 code, courtesy of BioWare, and an OotiniCast-provided Cartel Market pack from the latest shipment.

4. Holofeed

  • There was a press event for Shadow of Revan at the EA Redwood Shores campus in California on Wednesday 19 November. In attendance were both press and members of the community. The embargo on what was discussed will be lifted on Monday 24 November.
  • Game Update 2.10.3a was deployed on Tuesday.
  • When Game Update 3.0 goes live, all existing commendations (Classic, Basic, Elite, Ultimate, Planetary) will be converted into Basic Commendations at a to-be-determined ratio. While the hard cap for Basic Commendations will remain at 1000, there will be a soft/overflow cap to temporarily allow the hard cap to be exceeded when the conversion takes place.
  • The Obroan and Brutalizer sets (currently purchasable for Warzone Commendations and Ranked Warzone Commendations respectively) will be replaced by the two new PvP sets in Game Update 3.0. The existing PvE gear purchasable from vendors now will still be available in Game Update 3.0, but will be moved to a different vendor.
  • For Ranked PvP, the top 96 players across all Advanced Classes will be determined based on their current (not highest achieved) rating when Season 3 ends with the deployment of Game Update 3.0 on 2 December.
  • The mission dropbox will finally be installed on the Empire side of Ancient Hypergate in Game Update 3.0.
  • On Saturday evening, the last Community Cantina for the year was held in Las Vegas. Swtorista has provided a summary of the Q&A from a guildmate who was in attendance. Heather was also there, and described her experience on her blog.
  • Developer blogs were published for Sorcerers/Sages and Assassins/Shadows, and David Demaree and Eric Musco did their second livestream to cover this set of Advanced Classes.

5. Community

David from The Oceanic Gamer’s Flash Point podcast has created a SWTOR Gamers Group on Facebook which is open to all.

We recommend the Twitch channel of the Sith United guild (Empire-side of Prophecy of the Five).

Vulkk has produced a video describing StarParse, a next-generation combat log parser.

OotiniCast Episode 176 — 2 Comments

  1. I just finished listening to Episode 176, and had a quick comment. At 1:02:30, Redna talks about Assassin’s Shelter being made into a Heroic tier Utility in 3.0. He states that “…dps or tanks standing in it, the healing they receive is increased by 3%…” I’m not sure how he’s coming to this conclusion. The text of Assassin’s Shelter states, “Increases all healing received by 3%. In addition, deploying Phase Walk also deploys Assassin’s Shelter, increasing the healing done by those within 5 meters of the Phase Walk by 5%.” This is the exact same text as the talent in the Darkness tree has on the live 2.x servers, where Assassin’s Shelter only increases the healing received for the tank Assassin himself, without having to stand in it. The only benefit to other raid members is the 5% increased healing done for standing in the Assassin’s Shelter.

  2. Hey Guys,

Glad to hear everyone got home from Vegas safely! I really enjoyed the Ootini Cantini, so much so that my wife had to constantly ask me why I was laughing! Keep up the good work.

I had a question for Teo: what is the right way to make hot tea in Australia? I was raised with the hot water and teabag method, but have recently embraced a more Asian approach with various loose leaf teas and a mesh screen that rests in the teapot. How do you do it?
