OotiniCast Episode 104

We contemplate what’s coming up in the SWTOR Holiday Update, discuss the first in the series of Developer Diaries for Galactic Starfighter, and then analyse the class changes coming in Game Update 2.5. We even throw in a mini-review of Star Wars: Tiny Death Star!

1. Introduction

2. Tip of the week

Congratulations to this week’s winner, Christopher P!

The Windows application suggested by Joseph D. Foran is ClovisGrid.

Please send your tips to ootinicast@gmail.com by next Wednesday for a chance to win a Tawnfaun code, courtesy of BioWare, and an OotiniCast-provided Cartel Market pack from the latest shipment.

  • Game Update 2.4.1 included an initially undocumented feature that enhanced the functionality (via the Interface Editor) of the Focus Target window.
  • The issue that prevented mission objects from being clickable was mostly fixed in patch 2.4.1a. However, some occurrences remained, with the workaround being to log out and in again, at which point the mission object would be clickable. While this prevented some Kingpin contracts from being completed, Bounty Contract Week was not extended, though will be back in a month (12-19 November). The issue was fixed completely in patch 2.4.1b.
  • Bruce Maclean, Senior Producer on SWTOR, has published the SWTOR Holiday Update, very much in the vein of his Summer of SWTOR forum post (25 May). It describes the following milestones for future updates:
    • [29 October] Game Update 2.4.2: Ranked Season 1 begins, along with web-based leaderboards.
    • [12 November] Character names held by characters on inactive accounts will be made available.
    • [12-19 November] Bounty Contract Week returns.
    • [27 November-2 December] Double XP over Thanksgiving weekend.
    • [3 December] Game Update 2.5: class changes, subscriber access to Galactic Starfighter, and addition of Makeb Mesa Arena.
  • Michael Backus, Lead Designer, provided the first in a series of Developer Diaries describing the development of Galactic Starfighter.

  1. Another possibility for the new playable alien race–and one I’m personally hoping will eventually be available–might be Togruta, especially since there’s already a Togruta companion in the game (Sith Inquisitor companion Ashara Zavros). On the other hand, they might not be considered “more alien” than the Twi’leks.

  2. So I’m browsing the internet today and think to myself “I want to get one of those security keys”. Never got round to buying one cause I always forgot. Then I realise on the app store is a completely free one which I could of been using the last eight months and could of earned a bonus 800 cc by now aswell the other security vendor stuff!!! I felt like a right idiot after that. That will teach me to browse the internet properly next time :p

  3. Ootinicast Quote of the Week 104: “You exhibited a great degree of scepticism” -Teo calling Red out for being snide about the start of Season 1. Which is now starting this week.

  4. Teo,

You spoke of running a group finder 8 man TFB run to maximize ultimate coms. The 16 mans drop the coms like candy and are actually easier than the 8 mans.
